General Description:

The Shands pulmonary outpatient rotation includes the workup, evaluation, and management of patients with pulmonary disorders in the outpatient setting.  Patients seen during this rotation have a wide variety of common and uncommon pulmonary diseases.  Fellows will rotate among general pulmonary medicine clinics as well as subspecialty clinics in interstitial lung disease, pulmonary hypertension, and thoracic oncology.  Professionalism and helpfulness to the requesting providers are expected at all times.  This fellow is primarily responsible to evaluate patients and co-ordinate the care with other health-care professionals.  An attending pulmonary and critical care medicine faculty member sees patients with the fellow to provide data, guidance, and education.

Learning takes place during patient care in the clinic, didactic conferences, sit down teaching rounds related to the care of patients, and through self study.
